Philadelphia Gymnastics Academy fosters a positive and safe environment for our kids to learn and grow in the sport of gymnastics.
We partner with families to provide an experience for our gymnasts to develop confidence and achieve success.
The following is the Code of Conduct for Parents/Guardians and the Student to abide by while their gymnast is a member of The Academy.
DRESS CODE
All parents, guardians and guests are expected to wear appropriate attire at all times for an environment where young people gather, whether they are at The Academy or at a gymnastics showcase, meet or competition.
Gymnasts must wear a leotard or biketard for practice. Gymnasts should not be coming to practice with 2 piece sets, t-shirt, tights, tutus and sports bras alone. Long hair should be put up in a bun or ponytail prior to practice.
DROP OFF/PICK UP/ATTENDANCE
As previous practice and as part of our policy, it is imperative that the responsible adult drop off the gymnast in the building at the beginning of practice or class. Please do not bring your child to their class more than 5 minutes before their class begins.
It is important to walk the child inside the building as information may be shared at drop off or reminders posted inside the gym bulletin board.
On time pick up is equally imperative as coaches have other classes to teach. Although a 10 minute grace period is provided before incurring late pick up fees ($1/minute), late pick up of your child prevents the coaches from monitoring the safety of other gymnasts for the next class. Students are not allowed to wait outside the facility for their ride, unattended.
Please send a correspondence to the Office Manager and/or Coaches for any absences, whether it’s missing practice or meets.
For XCEL & JO Families: please abide by the Report Time given for each and every gymnastics meet and competitions. Allow yourselves extra time for traffic, parking and check-in for meets.
BALCONY/OBSERVATION AREA ETIQUETTE
The Academy is a family oriented business so please maintain appropriate volume and appropriate language at all times when waiting at the parking lot, entrance/exit and observing from the observation area or observation deck.
Please do not coach your child from the observation area as this is a distraction to the other gymnasts and coaches who are there for the safety of all gymnasts. Please leave the coaching to the coaches.
Please do not knock on the glass windows (small gym). For your safety, children and adults should not lean over the balcony (big gym).
Please clean up after yourselves. Trash cans are provided around the gym to secure unwanted items.
Please do not leave children who are not gymnasts unattended. They should not be running around the observation area.
The Academy is not responsible for any items left behind. Please make sure you and your gymnast have all of your items before leaving the premises, including water bottles, socks and shoes. We will do our best to collect lost and found items.
PARKING LOT
Please park at the designated parking spots.
The Academy is not responsible for any towing or ticket given by the Springfield Township Police.
Please do not block entrance to and from the parking lot and the driveway to the back of the building by Little Bird Nursery and Preschool.
Parking illegally and blocking the driveway is a safety hazard and prevents emergency vehicles from entering the premises and accessing the buildings.
As previously mentioned, please use appropriate language and behavior while on the premises, including the parking lot.
MEET ETIQUETTE
Parents and guardians are to stay in their designated seated areas during competitions and to conduct themselves with the appropriate decorum. At no point should a parent or guardian enter the competition area or engage with judges or other meet officials unless approached by an official for reasons of injury or qualification (regional or national championships). Violations of these regulations will not be tolerated. Violators will be prohibited from attending competitions indefinitely and will be subject to whatever fines are imposed upon The Academy.
For XCEL & JO Families: Parents and guardians are not to contact meet directors directly regarding schedules, whether through email or phone call. Once The Academy receives the meet schedule, we’ll share it with the families.
INCIDENTS/ACCIDENTS/INJURIES
Please review the attached Student Waiver and Release of Liability Waiver Form. link below. This is shown on the family portal as you create an account and add your child to the account. Here’s an excerpt from the Waiver:
**We, the staff of Philadelphia Gymnastics Academy LLC recognize our obligation to make our students and their parent(s) aware of the risks and hazards associated with the sport of gymnastics, tumbling, trampoline, cheerleading, and dance. Students may suffer injuries, possibly minor, serious, or catastrophic in nature. Gymnastics, tumbling, trampoline and cheerleading can be dangerous and can lead to injury! Parents should make their children aware of the possibility of injury and encourage their children to follow all the safety rules and the coaches’ instructions. Philadelphia Gymnastics Academy LLC, its coaches and other staff members, will not accept responsibility for injuries sustained by any student during the course of gymnastics, tumbling, dance, cheerleading instruction, open workouts, or in the course of any exhibition, competition, or clinic in which he or she may participate or while traveling to or from the event.**
For complete waiver, please click on the link below or access it in your family portal.
VIDEO RECORDING/PICTURES/SOCIAL MEDIA
No recording or photography of any child other than your child. Please refrain from posting on your personal social media accounts when a child other than yours is in the video or picture.
The Code of Conduct is in place to keep the safety and wellness of all of our staff, gymnasts and families. We expect all families, attendees and staff to respect one another at all times. Families and gymnasts are to accept staff’s recommendations and judgements especially when the gymnasts safety is involved. If the code of conduct has been breached or/and serious concerns (i.e. poor practice, bullying, unfairness, discrimination, etc.) are brought to the staff attention, the Head Coach or/and Office Manager shall investigate and may result in the appropriate disciplinary procedure being followed. If you have any concerns, please contact the Head Coach or Office Manager directly.
